OFFSHORE NEWS
CAPE and Fisher Offshore have agreed that CAPE Group will represent Fisher Offshore in the Asian region:
The first job that they are currently doing together , is the post lay trenching for the "Bayu U ndan" pipeline which was laid by Saipem from Darwin into the Timor Sea.
The Fisher Offshore "HydroDigger" Mass Flow excavation system has proved to be a very useful tool for this project.
The Hydrodigger is a field proven system with it's own dedicated Launch and Recovery System. (LARS) This is installed on the deck of the vessel to be used for the excavation works and the system utilis es a minimum deck space , compared to other systems available currently. The HydroDigger is launched with the dedicated Launch and R ecovery S ystem , down two guide wires that ensure that the Hydrodigger is precisely positioned above the seabed and the area to be excavated and ensures that it remains where it is meant to be. Other systems are more prone to effects of current and thruster reaction, thereby wandering off the track of the excavation area desired.
The HydroDigger is a "non contact" excavation system which makes it especially useful on post lay trenching and excavation of live pipelines and for pipeline crossings. The HydroDigger is equipped with real time sonar monitoring , so enabling the operator to precisely control the excavation required at any point. The Hydrodigger can be used with two Sea Bat sonars ther e by giving a 3D image of the excavation being undertaken.
The HydroDigger can also be fitted with a high volume , medium pressure pump that is used for excavation in clays and for the removal of "Rock Dump" over a pipeline , in the event that a pipeline needs to be repaired or "tied into" for future field expansions.
The unit in Darwin is normally based at the CAPE facility in Singapore and is available for use anywhere in the Asian area with minimal mobilisation costs and with immediate availability.

CAPE have just mobilised a piling spread to Subsea 7 for a
project in Malaysia:
The spread includes a brand new "FAST
FRAME" from SEASTEEL in the U.K. This frame is a 72"
subsea piling frame enabling time savings offshore of between 15-24
hrs per pile installed. Together with the frame goes the rental of
2 specially designed followers for 60 inch piles and handling tools
for the piles as well as the provision of an IHC S-150 Hydrohammer
to drive the piles in 90 meters of water depth.
